MY QUASI-BROTHER
Rugged as the mountains
And annoying as an eel,
This plutonium powered playmate
Makes living life a thrill
He'll run around in circles,
Roll down hills, up mountain tops.
Like the Energizer Bunny,
This shaggy friend won't stop.
For all the Scows, save Lyle,
You can squish them like a bug.
But don't try to step on Jordan
Or he'll squish you with a hug.
He'll hug out all the hatred,
All the bitterness and greed
For the friend I've found in Jordan
Is the friend that all men need.
The stars were stacked against me
From the day that I was born.
My mother never fed me meatloaf.
I never played french horn.
I never had a big Ford truck
Or Taz the Devil in a game.
I never had a brother
But in 86' he came.
For Jeff and Jared both were my age
So they counted more as friends.
But the bond I found in Jordan
Is a bond that never ends.
For it seems that God has answered
Yet another fervent prayer,
Appeased an inner yearning,
Lightened life's load to bear.
Daisy Lightning, playing Nertz,
And eating Karen's cold dream pies.
Just remembering the memories
Can bring tears to both one's eyes.
For God has taught us once again
That it doesn't hurt to pray
And if you talk smack 'bout Jordan
I'm proud to stand and say:
"That's my quasi-brother,
That runt you call a pest,
And among my many brothers
By far Jordan's the best."
